We have had such amazing weather since May which makes "summer holidays" feel very extended. We decided to see a few of the less known sights around Albuquerque. We packed a picnic lunch and headed out to the Wildlife West Nature Park. It's 20 minutes east over the mountains but unfortunately in bad shape. My over all feeling was forgotten, abandoned and "I can't believe we just spent money to get in here!" The kids had a good time though so that's all that matters.
There was a beautiful colored glass welcome sign, but the rest of the park was severely lacking...
After that disappointment Owen fell asleep in the car, so to give him a little more "quiet" time we stopped at a little hole in the wall called "TINKER TOWN" It's a unique and strange collection of one mans obsession in recycled items and figurines.
It was fun to get our fortune told from such a wise woman
Looky what I found amongst the collection
We drove up the backside of the Sandia Mountains to the crest. It was a twisted, switch-back road that left me feeling sick to my stomach, but the view of Albuquerque was breath taking!
We had tones of humming birds in our backyard this summer so we bought a feeder for them to perch on. The kids loved watching the tiny birds drink from the feeder.
We brought the swimming pool out a lot this summer.
It's a quick easy cool down in the hot afternoon.
