It was really exciting to be in England for the London 2012 Olympic Games! UK spirit was everywhere, but unfortunately we didn't get tickets to any event. It was mostly a lottery draw or super expensive, or hours of driving to a far away venue. We did however take the tube down to London to see as many FREE sites as we could. We wanted to sport all American T-shirts (since 99% of us are American) but the ones I could find at the BX were U G L Y (you aint got no alibi you ugly, heh heh you ugly.) Ava had the brilliant idea to wear our Canada shirts even Dave was up for it.
Epping Tube Station waiting to ride on down
After grabbing a fish and chip lunch we headed straight for Tower Bridge, where the Olympic rings were hung. Sad thing was the rings were raised in this picture because the bridge had just opened to let a ship pass. We are standing with the official London Olympic mascot Wenlock, dressed as a Beefeater.
There were people from every country taking pictures. I had to pull out the flag; however it's such a shame Canada didn't do very well in the medal count.
Finally the rings came down again.
Making our way over the bridge. Ava had a cute "oh no" face at the site of the cannons!
London is so cool! I can't believe I get to live here for 3 years!
Finally made it to the other side and took a few patriotic shots
Took a short nursing break in the park while we watched some live boxing
We continued on to the Press Broadcasting platforms and played in the water walk area
Shopped for a few souvenirs
We had a great day in London
At the end of the day we stopped at Olympic Park, thinking we might be able to walk around a bit?
SO WRONG! No ticket = NO ENTRANCE TO ANYTHING!!!
There was a mall that had a viewing platform, this is as close as we got to London 2012
So instead we ate supper and shopped at the Disney Store
Yeah it was fun and boo we had no tickets, but Im so glad we went and saw everything we could.
Kids being cute on the way home in the Tube
